Bluefin tuna are built for speed and endurance and may reach speeds of over thirty miles per hour.
Warm-blooded, the tuna's body is streamlined to reduce water resistance and conserve energy for trans Pacific migrations. Retractable fins also allow a freer flow of water when navigational changes do not require their use.
The endangered Pacific Bluefin Tuna are overfished throughout the world.
